Much of our early Moon family history is derived from a privately published manuscript The Moon Family and Its Several Phases by Howard E. Richardson. The book was limited in distribution but copies can be found in the VA, GA, AL and OK State Libraries.

William R. Moon of Gadsden, AL has long studied the Moons of VA, GA and AL. He's solved more than a few family puzzles. His own Moon line can be found in, One Line of the Moon Family from Virginia to Alabama.

Mary Moon Heaton of Champaign, IL has compiled an outline entitled, The Family of Young Allen Moon and Sarah Mandley Staples, drawing from Howard Richardson, William R. Moon and other's work to build a comprehensive outline.
